The Future of Motion Controlled Video Games: What Do You Want?
I'm back from a fantastic holiday break! With the Microsoft Kinect and Sony's Playstation Move invading store shelves and many a gamers home this Holiday season, how many of you made the steep investment in the new age of motion controls? But, are truly glad you forked up all that hard-earned dough? Interactivity in the gaming world has certainly made its mark on the industry, but not nearly everyone is doing it...yet. I myself never (in the immediate future) plan on tossing cash at such a novelty item at this point in its development (yes, development); I don't think the world of gaming is ready, or advanced enough for motion controls yet. Looking down the road, would any of you die hard Call of Duty fans like to see motion controls implemented into the franchises' next installment? For me, the product would have to be flawless in every sense of the word. As it stands, it's extremely difficult enough to compete competitively in online COD games as your average FPS gamer, and I reckon it would be even more difficult with faulty, slow response and cumbersome motion controls. Discuss!

How did you get your adds to be all about video games?
ReplyDeleteIs it just because of the content?
@ Mot Buchanan:
ReplyDeleteYes it is :)
To topic: Good question, i dont like kinect etc.
For me the motion systems all feel a bit gimicky. The concept is there, and it works but they almost overuse it to the point where I don't want to take part in it anymore.
ReplyDeleteStill, they have their moments. I'm currently enjoying sports resort but it's also because my xbox is down.
I remember when I first played Kingdom Hearts 2 that my buddy and I thought it would be awesome to have a device that made it seem like we were playing as Sora. Also my other buddy was telling me about how the technology behind the Kinect was pretty decent and that it made a 3d image of the room and such.
ReplyDeleteI think the technology is a little limited at the moment, if only in terms of price. Regardless, it always takes a little time for the technology to be fully utalised, no matter how good it is.
ReplyDeleteThe Warioware series is best at that: taking whatever technology innovation Nintendo throws out and pushing it every direction at once. I'd like to see thier take on Kinect or Move.
I played kinect the other day, it was a lot more fun than i expected
ReplyDeleteKinect has some serious potential and i cannot wait till it really rockets off, anyway excellent post
ReplyDeletethe idea of motioncontrol is dope but i dont think its implemented that well. Ah well we will see, to be honest i dont care for it at all haha
ReplyDeleteWhat Les said, plus itll probably be just another gimick like the Wii
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to it
ReplyDeleteI really think that a lot of the people that are taking advantage of the motion controlled games are younger kids and older adults. I could be wrong but I don't know too many serious gamers that use them
ReplyDeleteWelcome back, great blog here, following
